Assessment

The UNO Charter School Network employs a comprehensive assessment system that enables teachers to use data to drive their instruction. In kindergarten through second grade, teachers administer the Strategic Teaching and Evaluation of Progress (STEP) assessment to gain valuable information about students’ reading behaviors. Third through eighth grade students take the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) test in Reading and Math.

The test enables UNO to measure the academic growth each student makes within a given time period. In addition to standardized NWEA and STEP, teachers administer quarterly benchmark assessments that are directly connected to the state standards. Finally, teachers create their own formative assessments based on state standards and material addressed in class.
